Kitten
Q: I am moving in to a new house and i have 2 kittens about 12 weeks, the current owner says they have fleas and i would like to get rid of them quick so the new house is not infested, also my 4 yr old is allergic, what is the quickest way to get rid of at least some of these fleas asap?
A: You can give them each a capstar tablet to kill the adult fleas on them. then you can use frontline plus topically to kill the flea eggs and larvae.
Shop for: capstar, frontline plus, frontline

Kitten and fleas
Q: What is the youngest you can treat a kitten for fleas and what would you suggest?
A: 8 weeks and older. frontline plus or advantage would be your best choices.
Shop for: advantage, frontline plus, frontline

Cat scratching
Q: I have a 6 yr.old cat who just recently began going outside after we moved into our house.he began to scratch a couple of weeks ago and i figured it was fleas.i applied hartz spot medication to the back of his neck and for 2 weeks it seems to have no effect.i also have not seen any signs of fleas or ticks. could this be allergies and if so is there a medication i can try?
A: Can be allergies or other skin parasite. vet can sort out. you can try antihistamine such as chlorphenirmine at dose of 2 mg twice daily in addition to derm caps from 1800petmeds which can sometimes help long term
Shop for: antihistamine, 1800petmeds, tick

Hair loss
Q: My cat was a stray, so i don't know how old she is, but she is old enough to have had 4 kids. lately i've been noticing that her hair has been thinnig very guickly on her tail and sides. i don't know what to do. help?
A: Needs exam at vet to make sure no skin parasites like fleas or mange or fungal infection, etc

Product comparison
Q: Does the flea and tick meds that you purchase in the store like hartz flea and tick drops plus that you apply from the shoulder blades to the tail wofk as well as the ones you get from the vet? such as frontline sentinal etc. and do you know how long you have to wait before shampooing your dog with the hartz drops? sincerelt joan walton
A: Check the label on the hartz mountain product for information about removal with shampooing. if it suggests that shampooing will reduce the efficacy, i would shampoo twice, wait a week, and apply the frontline. by the way, we carry frontline and every other product available from your veterinarian, at guaranteed savings at the time of purchase. frontline and other professional flea and tick products do not require a prescription.
Shop for: frontline, tick

Bald spots
Q: My dog has bald spots on each side of her tail and her skin is always itching.
A: Check for presence of fleas with fleacomb as well as have vet check anal sacs and rule out other allergies. try corticare shampoo from 1800petmeds and oral benadryl at dose of 1/2 mg per pound orally twice daily. if no help see vet
Shop for: 1800petmeds

Deer ticks
Q: Does revolution also kill deer ticks? if not is there one medication that will do it all? my vet gave me revolution plus preventic plus collar. i really don't want to use a collar. what do you suggest? also are these medications good for shelties? i understand there may be a problem in collies.
A: Any insecticide has potential to cause rare side effects in any breed if you read drug insert. revolution supposedly kills deer ticks but i dont have lots of experience using it. i dont find problem with preventic collar; in fact it is my preferred method of tick control. i combine this with advantage for best flea/tick control. then use monthly interceptor or heartguard for heartworms. i am not a big fan of all in 1 products
Shop for: tick, revolution, preventic collar, advantage
