Which brand is besr?
Q: I have golden retrievers who are outdoor dogs. which heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention is best and also least expensive?
A: You can check with your veterinarian, however, sentinel, which is effective for fleas and heartworm would be a good choice.

Ear mites
Q: Dear vet: i have a 5 month old female kitten. i've only given her one application of revolution. it supposed to kill ear mites as well as ticks and fleas. however, she is still scratching her ears and at times one of her ears gets droopy. i looked inside her ears and saw some brownish stuff in them. could you tell me if you think that brown substance maybe ear mites? i also need to know if one application of the revolution should have kill them already, or does that medicine have a cumulative effect. thanks for your prompt attention to this matter.
A: One application is supposed to do job but if getting reinfested mignt need another. however i would take to vet for exam of ear canals as could be bacterial oryeast overgrowth from allergies and not mites at all
Shop for: revolution, ear mites, tick

Flea & tick control for cats
Q: What do you recommend for flea/tick control for cats? i have a 19 lb maine coon & a 11.70 lb. orange tabby. my home backs up to a wooded area. deer are very abundant. believe me i have tried to keep them in but they manage to get out...so i have given up on keeping them in the house. please let me know what you recommend? thanks, melanie
A: You might try frontline plus that will control fleas for up to 3 months and ticks for up to a month. if outdoor condtions warrant it you probably should keep them indoors as much as possible during the warmer months.
Shop for: tick, frontline plus, frontline

Hair loss
Q: My cat was a stray, so i don't know how old she is, but she is old enough to have had 4 kids. lately i've been noticing that her hair has been thinnig very guickly on her tail and sides. i don't know what to do. help?
A: Needs exam at vet to make sure no skin parasites like fleas or mange or fungal infection, etc

Trouble walking/pain when touched
Q: My 2 1/2 year old desert lynx cat has began having severe pain and trouble walking. he lies around all the time when he used to be very active, he has almost completely stopped eating, if you touch him or try to pick him up he meows as if he is in excruating pain, now he has begun to limp when walking. i have taken him to the vet and the vet believes he is constipated. he wormed him and told me to give him 2 dropfuls each of amoxi drop and hi-vite drops until empty. he seems to be worsening. i am afraid my cat may have polio or lukemia, could you give me advice as to what i should do now. i am afraid my cat may be dying and i don't know what to do.
A: He should have complete workup at vet including felv/fiv blood test as well as complete cbc/chemistry, x rays and ultrasound if needed. need diagnosis first before i can advise. sounds like your vet is treating symptomatically at this point without diagnosis
