Frontline recommendationQ: Frontline does not work well for my dog because the pest must bite in order to act. once the pest has bitten, it's too little too late because the bite itself causes so irritation to his skin that he sometimes needs to be treated for that. what then would be the recommendation? A: Actually frontline does not require the flea to bite to work. the active ingredient is in the oils in the coat. simply coming in contact with the fur should kill the flea or tick.

Mixing of meds reactionsQ: My pom is 6lbs and is 11yrs old. he has been diagnosed with heart problems and will be on 2 different meds the rest of his life. he is also on antibiotics for dental problems which hopefully will be taken care of next week. my question is that i want to bathe him with a shampoo that has growth inhibators to break the flea cycle...will it be ok to do so with the meds he's on? thank you A: Use any flea shampoo that is pyethrin based. adams makes nice line

Preventic collarQ: I recently sent in a question for you. you did explain the tick question. but, my question now is what brand preventic collar do you recommend to put on the dogs to go with the frontlineplus rx? also, if the tick will die within 48 hours, what if it gets off the dog and gets on us. will it try to attach itself to our skin in the mean time infecting us with possibly the lime disease? worried in louisiana!!! the humidity seems to be making the ticks and fleas worse! A: The preventic collar i referred to is sku 3306. i wouldn't be overly concerned about lyme disease in louisiana since the incidence is extremely low to almost non-existant according to the centers for disease control. however, i would recommend that you ask your personal physician for his/her opinion.
